About
The Rupertswood Basketball Club Inc was formed in the mid 1980’s to give something for the students to do who boarded at Salesian College over the weekends when it was an all boy’s school.
Originally starting out with 5 teams, these sides would be topped up by Rebels players to fill the void left by students who went home on some weekends which formed the original name of Rupertswood Rebels.
In 1990 The Rupertswood Sharks was formed and entered the Sunbury Basketball Association with 13 sides made up of boys and girls teams.
Since it’s inception into the SBA, the Rupertswood Basketball Club has had 5 presidents to date with Rocky Roland servicing as the longest president who was heavily involved in the initial set up into the SBA.
To date we have grown into a strong and healthy club with around 15 junior teams competing on a Saturday and 3 senior teams competing in midweek competitions.
The Rupertswood Basketball Club along with it’s affiliation with Salesian College aim to:
Promote healthy sporting participation and competition for young people within the Rupertswood and surrounding communities.
Provide a positive environment for young people to develop as well-rounded human beings through sporting pursuits.
